Hello everyone,

We hope you have had a blessed Thanksgiving holiday and are excited for our Christmas season!
We want to remind you to encourage your child to earn $7.00 to donate to our missionary families in Honduras so we can bless them with gifts this Christmas.

Just another reminder to practice our 4 - 8 math fact families with your children and to practice spelling words with them every night homework is assigned.

Weekly Update 11-11-11

Hello All,

I hope everyone has had a good week! Just a few reminders about next week - we are looking forward to seeing your precious children sing at chapel on Wednesday. Remember to sit in the balcony since the auditorium is usually crowded.

Also, the Book Fair is next week Monday - Friday, so feel free to send money with your children for books they might want to buy. Or you can feel free to take them to the Book Fair yourself :)

If your child has a birthday and you would like to bring treats to celebrate, please remember that we celebrate birthdays at recess, which is at 1:30 each day.

Please help your children remember to be responsible for having their homework signed and emptying their green folders every day.

Blessings,
Katie Klinke

Weekly Update 11 - 04-11

Hello all!

We'd like to start off by saying thank you to all of you who drove on the field trip and who came as chaperones! Despite the weather, the kids, for the most part did have a good time :)

As for academics, we just introduced the 8 addition family; so you may want to start practicing that family with your precious child at home. Those of you who have been practicing these combinations at home with your children, thank you. Your work is paying off in that for the most part we see improvement on the children's speed drills.

Our test schedule is always the same as I posted on last week's blog. Ephesians 4:32 will be our memory verse next week.

If you ever have any questions or concerns please let us know.

Blessings,
Katie Klinke

Weekly Update for 10/18 - 10/21

Hello all,
This is our update for October 18 - 21, since we won't have school the 17th.

We want to emphasize how important it is for you to practice the spelling words with yourkiddos each night we have homework. This will help your child to perform well on phonics tests since spelling words are a major part of phonics tests. It is also important to read the assigned reading pages with your child each night we have reading homework - this should help strengthen your child's reading skills.

We also want to clear up some confusion about the conduct charts. If your child has 5 marks in each area (self-control, responsibility, following directions) they still have an E in each area of conduct. Depending on what type of conduct mark(s) they receive, they can have a total of 15 marks and still have an E :)

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know. We are available for parent-teacher conferences upon request.

Blessings,
Katie Klinke

1st Grade Weekly Update

Dear Parents,

This blog will be one way we communicate to you each week so that your precious children will have the best 1st grade year possible.
On that note, we want to let you know a few things that will help your child to succeed academically. We want to reiterate how important it is for you to be practicing combinations from the 4-6 families on the blue sheet in your child's white binder for 5-10 minutes every night. It would be most helpful for you and your child to really focus on subtraction problems from those families.
Also, a friendly reminder - if you would please have your children use the bathroom here at school in the morning before they come to class, we would appreciate it :)
If you have any questions or concerns please let us know. Your children are a blessing to us, and we are having a wonderful year with them!

Blessings,
Katie Klinke
